Rob Bironas: Don’t expect NFL to change kickoff rule

Depending on your viewpoint, the NFL’s decision to move kickoffs up to the 35-yard line last season was either a snooze-inducing mistake or a great way to protect the health of players. Either way you look at it, don’t expect the rule to change, according to Titans kicker Rob Bironas – especially in light of The Chicago Tribune reporting this week that there were 50 percent fewer concussions on kickoffs last year than there were in 2010. “The way the league brought up the safety issues and brought all the information forward about concussions...

Rob Bironas wants you to swing into Christmas4Kids

Bironas will serve as co-chair of the Christmas4Kids Celebrity Golf Tournament, which will be held April 10 at Pine Creek Golf Course in Mt. Juliet. Funds generated by the tournament are used to give Middle Tennessee children from 30 different schools, totaling more than 400 children, a December party with Santa and Mrs. Claus, a ride on a famous tour bus, and money to purchase gifts...

Titans kicker’s ideal year contains no misses

Titans kicker Rob Bironas is a perfectionist. He’s converted 26 of his 29 field goal attempts this season — including a pair of 51-yarders last Saturday against the Jaguars — but he still kicks himself for the three he missed, and one of those was a 66-yard attempt. Last season Bironas missed two of his 26 kicks. He hasn’t missed an extra point since 2005. “I’ll try and put them all in next year,” he said. “My goal is to make them all.” The seventh-year pro was not voted to the Pro Bowl, but he said it didn’t bother him. That...
